Hello and welcome to Hawk Class (Year 1),
On this page, you can find all the information you may wish to know about life in Year 1. We have an exciting curriculum with lots of opportunities to be practical. We use continuous provision in our class to help secure and embed children's learning. Continuous provision is where the children are challenged through play and fun activities, just as they were in Reception, making it an easy transition for your child. Our main goal is for our class to enjoy school and have fun while learning!
At St Hubert's, we adhere to our Catholic ethos, vision and values thoroughly. We believe that our mission statement underpins life at school, as we 'Believe to Achieve: Love God, Love Learning and Love One Another'. This is evident through our school rules, which each class follows carefully.
I look forward to seeing you all blossom this year through your love of learning.

Phonics Screening
In June 2025, the children will take part in a phonic screening test. The phonics screening check is a quick and easy test of your child’s phonics knowledge. It helps schools confirm whether students have made the expected progress.
Children who do not meet the expected standard will repeat this in Year 2.
Here is some information regarding the Phonics Screening test.
